About This Service
Kyabra Housing Support Services provide information and referral, case management support, and, when there are vacancies, supported accommodation, to families, young people and individuals who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness.
Our Sunshine Coast services also provide support to women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
Support maintaining a tenancy
Kyabra may be able to support you to maintain your current tenancy by addressing the challenges placing your tenancy at risk. Support is tailored to people’s individual needs and aims to facilitate positive housing outcomes for families and individuals. We do this by clarifying concerns, setting goals and accessing the specialist help people may require to build resilience, sustain affordable housing and achieve their hopes.
We are also located in several locations on the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay, including: Gympie, Maroochydore, Nambour, Caloundra, Caboolture and Deception Bay.
Kyabra may be able to help you in the following ways:
- Supporting you to overcome barriers, helping you to sustain long term accommodation.
- Advocating for you with your real estate agent and supporting you to learn your rights as a tenant.
- Supportive case planning to identify individual goals around housing
- Supporting you to attend court hearings relating to your tenancy, where needed
- Assistance with budgeting and financial issues.
Supported Accommodation
Kyabra may be able to offer temporary accommodation, if available, with wrap around supports for families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Housing is provided on a short to medium term basis with timeframes that reflect the needs of each individual situation. Over this time, a Case Worker will provide support to address barriers to sustaining housing and assistance to secure long term housing. As well as Supported Accommodation, Kyabra offers a range of other supports and services to assist people in managing a tenancy independently.
*Most referrals for our supported accommodation are made through the Queensland Homelessness Information Platform (QHIP). QHIP referrals are only possible when vacancies are listed on the platform.
*Our Immediate Housing Response (IHR) Program can be accessed via our Brisbane-based Intake and Assessment Team.
Supports may include:
- Short to medium term supported accommodation
- Supportive case planning to identify individual goals around housing
- Support to overcome barriers to access housing as well as to help sustain long term accommodation.
- Support to attend court hearings relating to tenancy where needed.
- Flexibility to meet with you in a place where you feel comfortable.
- Assistance with budgeting and financial issues.

Our Sunshine Coast site, based in Nambour, may be able to offer temporary accommodation at times when there are vacancies. Housing may be provided based on the needs of the client, and case work support is provided to assist people in transitioning to secure, affordable accommodation.
