Understanding the Differences between Autism Spectrum Disorder & Complex Trauma |
GWT has secured a date for a very interesting training facilitated by Nicole from Evolve services. The training content as follows;
Often children in the child protection system have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It can be difficult to know how trauma fits into this picture. This presentation will include a brief overview of attachment theory and ASD and the key differences and similarities between an ASD diagnosis, trauma-related behaviours and attachment difficulties. The implications for providing support, intervention strategies and how you can assist with accurate diagnosis will also be outlined. Professionals who work in the Child Safety sector would benefit from this seminar.
We have a good lead in time for this training, it took a while to find a time when both Nicole and a training space where available!
The date is Thursday 24th May.
Please save the date if you have interest in attending, please also let Foster Carers know. The training is open to Foster Carers and professionals. |

Foundations of Positive Behaviour Support |
Positive behaviour support is a respectful and ethical approach to supporting people who may use behaviours to communicate their needs. The primary goal of this evidence-based approach is to improve a person’s quality of life and to reduce and eliminate the use of restrictive practices.
The Foundations of Positive Behaviour Support films provide an overview of positive behaviour support and discuss some of the foundational elements that are necessary for good positive behaviour support to occur. The films recognise that these foundational elements should be embedded into the support provided to everyone. |
