Jon Kabat-Zinn is Professor of Medicine Emeritus and creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Jon Kabat-Zinn, first realized the appropriateness of mindfulness in the treatment of chronic medical conditions and later adapted Hanh’s teachings on mindfulness into the structured eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course, which has since spread throughout the western World and is offered at medical centers, hospitals, and health maintenance organizations.
