About This Service
We have a secure purpose-built women’s shelter for single women and women with children escaping domestic and family violence, who are at imminent risk of harm. Our vision is of fair, thriving, sustainable communities that instil hope, embrace diversity, promote safety and in which all people feel a sense of belonging.
For community members seeking shelter accommodation, all referrals are made through DVConnect and only available at times when we have a vacancy available. Please call DVConnect directly on 1800 811 811 or click here.
If you are a service supporting a community member to access shelter accommodation, referrals can be made through the Queensland Homelessness Information Platform (QHIP). QHIP referrals are only possible when vacancies are listed on the platform. If your service does not have access to QHIP, please call our mainline on (07) 5441 3837, so we can discuss alternative options.
What do we do?
- Provide secure emergency accommodation for single women, and women with children escaping violence
- Provide a personalised response to your experience through case management.
- Arrange an interpreter if you need one.
- Discuss your safety needs and help with safety planning.
- Provide you with practical support.
- Assist you to complete applications for domestic violence orders, Centrelink Crisis payments and other relevant applications as required.
- Talk about your safety online and while using a mobile phone.
- Support to explore safe housing pathways.
- Make referrals to other services with your consent.
- Support with information and advocacy as required.

DVConnect also provide a program called ‘Pets in Crisis’, which can provide short term safe accommodation, food and vet care to pets whose families have escaped domestic and family violence, but who cannot take them to a shelter/refuge and have no family or friends who can care for their pet while they find safe, alternative accommodation.
