SUMMARY:Supervision: Unpacking Practice
DESCRIPTION:Duration2 day – face 2 faceWednesday & Thursday\, 29 & 30 April 2026Time9:00 – 16:30 each dayVenueLighthouse Resources Upstairs Training Room37 Kyabra Street RUNCORN\, QLD. 4113Target GroupFor counsellors\, social/human service workers\, pastoral care workers\, psychologists\, youth workers\, students or anyone who is a supervisor or a supervisee and interested in practice development.Prerequisite/Notes:Some understanding of post structuralist practice frameworks such as client/person centered\, strengths based\, narrative and solution focused approaches would be an advantage for participation.Recommended reading: The Strengths ApproachOutlineDo you ever find yourself in your role as a supervisor wondering how you can support supervisees to build on their own skills and knowledge? Do you get invited into coming up with all the answers and feel you are doing all the work? Or as a supervisee do you ever feel that the advice offered by your supervisor doesn’t feel quite right? In your role as supervisor or supervisee do you aspire to having conversations that enable you to reflect and make decisions about your own practice? This workshop will offer workers\, whether they are supervisors\, supervisees or both an opportunity to explore ways of having conversations that centre the knowledge and expertise of the supervisee. In doing so the supervisee has the opportunity to build on what they know\, and the supervisor has a tool to make this possible.OutcomesAt the completion of this workshop\, participants will have:* Explored some assumptions underpinning a capacity building approach to supervision conversations about practice.* Explored some conversational maps to assist in these conversations.* Explored how these ideas can be applied to their own work context.TestimonialsSome of the great feedback we received about this event:* Loved this workshop – Facilitator: impressive\, approachable\, friendly\, knowledgeable.* Informal space provided – conducive to learning.* Very informative\, easy to grasp concepts\, the facilitator was a pleasure to listen to during this workshop. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.* At the moment it feels like it was the best of all possible workshops.* I will definitely change my way of supervision – I have learnt lots of new practices.* This training is the first that has fitted my learning disability and I have come away with skills and knowledge to apply directly to my staff.* I really enjoyed the activities\, it kept me focused and wanted to learn more.* The integration of narrative\, strengths-based and solution focused – it helpful to have this toolbox more structured.* It was great to immediately try out and reflect on the process\, I learnt a lot from the other participants. Excellent facilitation skills.FacilitatorVicki Carrick has worked in the community sector for over 25 years and her work roles include case management\, child protection\, community development\, disability program coordination\, group facilitation\, international development work\, project work and training. Vicki has completed a Master of Social Administration and further study in Facilitation and Strength Read MoreCancellationBy completing and submitting this registration form\, you are indicating your intention to attend this event and you will be liable for the full fee as indicated.
